Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis is known as the theme of transforming into a butterfly, but for an artist it can hold several meanings. This first solo show by Dee Ross is a journey of delving into social and environmental issues as seen through a personal lens.

Since moving to the country Dee has become involved in local social and environmental activist groups. Having first hand research and shared knowledge has amplified Dee’s enthusiasm to communicate the ‘Why?’ in artworks. Inviting the viewer to ask why an art piece speaks with them.

Transforming over to eco art supplies has also evolved from research and exploration. Over the past few years Dee has been utilising minimal amounts of found earth (pigment) that is relevant to a local location. Dee is conscious of respecting the land and will not remove any flora from the outdoor environment. Part of this challenge is how does one keep certain components permanent within an artwork? Dee explores this notion in the exhibition.

With a start in fine art drawing Dee is happy to have a mix of lines and texture throughout the selection of works. In a world that is largely driven by social media and AI, this is a close look within art that has many layers and deep meaning. Preferring to work directly from life this body of work is referenced from sketches, plein-air work and life drawings. It will include new artworks and a large selection from the last few years.

This exhibition will fall over International Women's Day 2026 and the global theme is ‘Balance the Scales’ Focusing on achieving Equality, Justice, and Safety for all women, including LGBTQI+ individuals . This theme emphasizes overcoming systemic barriers, discrimination, and legal inequities to ensure a fair society.
This exhibition is inclusive and respectful to all
